Denver is extending cold weather shelter from Thursday, Feb. 13 and will remain open as long as weather conditions are met.
The City and County of Denver completed bridge and roadway rehabilitation work on the elevated portion of the Park Avenue Viaduct from the Platte River east to Wazee Street.
This critical improvement project incorporated bridge repairs and traffic signal replacements at Wazee and Delgany Streets, as well as new concrete curb ramps, signage and striping. The voter approved Elevate Denver Bond program provided a portion of the funding for the bridge rehabilitation project.
In October 2021, the City and County of Denver and Hamilton Construction Company reached a major milestone. Crews have completed bridge and wall repairs and are now paving and waterproofing the roadway surface. This paving work will require intermittent and extended lane closures on both inbound and outbound Park Avenue through spring 2022. During extended lane closures, two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions. Pedestrian access will also be maintained throughout the project duration. Motorists are encouraged to sign up for travel updates by contacting the public information team at parkaveprojectco@gmail.com or (720) 772-7703, as the work schedule is subject to change.
The project was completed in July 2023.
