Travel and Safety Improvements at Broadway & I-25

Project Summary

DOTI is making travel and safety improvements at Broadway & I-25 that include replacing the existing at-grade southbound on-ramp to I-25 from Broadway with an elevated ramp to ease vehicle congestion and enhance safety. Other work will improve access to the I-25 & Broadway Station for people who walk and bike.

Completed Milestones

Since the project began last summer, the project has:

  • Extended Bannock Road south of Exposition Avenue, providing access to the RTD Park-n-Ride from the north. This includes: improved lighting, landscaping and a new multi-use pathway.
  • Completed sanitary sewer and storm sewer work throughout the area.
  • Constructed a major portion of the elevated on-ramp to southbound I-25 , including two new bridges.

By Spring 2026, this project will:

  • Add multi-use pathways for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Connect the Broadway bike lane to the RTD Broadway station.
  • Install new traffic signals at Ohio Avenue between Broadway and Lincoln Street and at Broadway and Kentucky Avenue.
  • Reconstruct local streets, including Lincoln, Broadway, Kentucky and Ohio.
  • Reconstruct Kentucky Avenue, combining the existing intersection with the southbound I-25 off-ramp.

The I-25 & Broadway Station is the second busiest in the RTD system and supports a high frequency of bus travel along the Broadway corridor, connecting Englewood to downtown Denver.
