As we work to address missing links in the sidewalk network to help people get where they want to go more safely and easily, here’s what you need to know:

Sidewalk Repairs

Sidewalk repairs are not performed on-demand. DOTI is prioritizing areas with higher concentrations of reported sidewalk damage. We are taking sidewalk damage reports submitted through 3-1-1, ranking them based on severity, and grouping them geographically to create an efficient mobilization plan for its contractor to maximize the amount of work that can be done within the repair budget.

2026 sidewalk repairs are underway in the areas and order listed below. More areas in the city will be added as time and funding allows.

  • Washington Park (E. Exposition Ave. to E. Bayaud Ave. between S. Franklin St. and S. Downing St.) and Washington Park West (E. Exposition Ave. to E 1st Ave. between S. Downing St. and S. Clarkson St.): As of January 16, 2026, painting is currently underway; repair work is anticipated to begin in 2-4 weeks.
  • Clayton: Repair work is anticipated to begin in mid-2026.

New Sidewalk Construction

DOTI continues to construct new sidewalks, filling gaps in the network and working to complete its Elevate and Rise Bond Program commitments. Between 2026 and 2027, DOTI anticipates constructing the following stretches of new sidewalk, with some segments already underway.
