Denver and HUD

A significant portion of funding to deliver the mission of Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) is federal rather than local. Serving as the lead grant administrator for HUD funds, DEDO works closely with the city's Department of Housing Stability (HOST), who also uses HUD dollars to deliver their critical community investments. If you're new to this information, you may want to start with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

User's Guide - 2021 Edition
We appreciate that for local grantees, there is an inherent challenge to seeking, being awarded, and reporting on federal funds. We are honored to partner with the community in making these essential investments, and we hope this guide(PDF, 1MB) will help you learn more about the process and how to be successful.

HUD Environmental Reviews
Before any funds, regardless of source, are committed to a HUD-assisted project, Denver performs an environmental review to determine a project’s potential environmental impacts and compliance with all related laws and authorities.

Draft 2021 and Amended 2020 Annual Action Plans
April 5, 2021 was the opening of the public comment period on these two plans, both posted on DEDO's Reports & Studies. We held a Public Comment session on April 14, 2021 which was recorded. Slides from that session are also posted in English(PDF, 352KB) and Spanish(PDF, 320KB). The comment period concluded on May 7, 2021.

2020 Draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER)
March 15, 2021 began the public comment period on Denver's 2020 Draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER). The comment period concluded on May 7, 2021.

2021 Annual Meeting
On January 27, 2021, DEDO and HOST hosted a virtual community meeting to kick off our year with HUD funds. We provided a general overview of how HUD funds are granted to Denver and how we in turn invest in business support, community development, and housing. These slides were presented(PDF, 2MB), and the event was recorded.

Funding Opportunities
Program funding opportunities are posted online with a limited time window; development projects are accepted in a rolling window. You may want to bookmark the DEDO and HOST funding opportunities for future reference.

HUD Grantees
Below are year-by-year lists of grants that Denver has made with its HUD funds through the periodic release of a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA). NOTE: Prior to 2020, Denver's economic development and housing activities were managed through one agency. Beginning January 1, 2020, the city now operates both a Department of Housing Stability (HOST) and Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO).
