Update - March 2, 2021
We are now opening our SBERF application to eligible businesses with revenues up to $5 million. In accordance with SB-20B-001, we will first award funds to all eligible small business with annual revenues of $2.5 million or less before we can consider funding any other businesses.
For this latest program round, businesses must belong to one of the following business types/ industries to be eligible for this grant opportunity. These industries are defined in Senate Bill 20B-001 Section 24-32-129(1)(f), and can be summarized as follows:
- Bars
- Breweries licensed pursuant to State requirements and that operate an attached sales room
- Caterers
- Distilleries licensed pursuant to State requirements and that operate an attached sales room
- Fitness and recreational sports centers
- Movie theaters
- Restaurants
- Wineries licensed pursuant to State requirements and that operate an attached sales room
We encourage business owners to submit their application as soon as possible.

Program Funding Round 1 Update
As of February 19, Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) announced grant awards to over 700 small businesses for more than $3 million. The grants are possible by City funding, as well as funds that Denver received from the State of Colorado in January as authorized under Senate Bill 20B-001 (COVID-19 Relief Small And Minority Businesses Arts Organizations). A list of the grant recipients will be posted in the coming days.
The DEDO team continues to review and process applications received in Round 1 and expects to announce more awardees within the next two weeks.
In 2020, the Small Business Emergency Relief Fund (SBERF) program provided over $12 million in grants to over 2,000 small businesses.
