In the City and County of Denver, all installers of life safety systems, and all those who perform the service of inspecting those systems, must have current licenses issued by the Denver Fire Department. These safety systems include:
- Fire protection systems (sprinkler systems)
- Fire alarm systems
- Portable fire extinguishers
- Public Safety Bi-Directional Amplifier Systems (BDA)
- Fire Pumps
- Health Safety Coordinator
- Mass Notification Communication Systems
- Venue Safety and Emergency Evacuation Coordinator
- Central Station Runner
- Facility Safety Administrator
- Apprentices doing this work under a journeyman, who are registered in an approved apprentice training program or have a signed agreement in place with a contractor (see below), are required to be registered with the Denver Fire Department (but not required to hold a license).
