Commissions & Advisory Board

Ten commissions operate under Human Rights & Community Partnerships. Each commission acts as a liaison and advocate to the Mayor on behalf of the communities they represent.

Established in 2007, the Advisory Board advises the Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships Executive Director on emerging issues or opportunities that may impact our communities.

ADVISORY BOARD

African American Commission

The Denver African-American Commission (DAAC) is charged with advising the Mayor on issues and concerns that impact or are of importance to the African American community. DAAC serves as a bridge between the African American community and policy-makers and engage in responsible activism for the community.

American Indian Commission

The Denver American Indian Commission advocates on behalf of Denver's American Indian community.

Asian American Pacific Islander Commission

The Denver Asian American Pacific Islander Commission (DAAPIC) serves as a support liaison and facilitator between the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in Denver, the Agency for Human Rights and Community Partnerships and the office of the Mayor of Denver.

Commission for People with Disabilities

Denver Commission for People with Disabilities (DCPD) promotes and enhances equality for people with disabilities through empowerment, advocacy, and education by working with community members, as well as City and County of Denver officials and employees who have the ability to affect change.

Commission on Aging

The Denver Commission on Aging helps to make Denver the best community for older adults through outreach, communication and advocacy.

Immigrant & Refugee Commission

The Denver Immigrant and Refugee Commission advocates for the immigrant and refugee communities of the City of Denver. They connect communities with allies, stakeholders and resources in Denver and provide valuable community context and input to policy makers.

Latino Commission

The Denver Latino Commission's mission is to oversee, recommend and influence policies that affect the Denver Latino community while maintaining and encouraging a constituent focus.

LGBTQ Commission

The Denver Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer Commission (LGBTQ) Commission partners with the community to advance social, economic, and political equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people using its unique position within the City and County of Denver.

Nonprofit Engagement Commission

The Nonprofit Engagement Commission serves as a catalyst for leveraging the best of Denver’s public and nonprofit sectors and their commitment to engaging in innovative and collaborative work. The Commission’s core work is focused on providing support for the Office of Nonprofit Engagement and the implementation of its strategies and goals.

Women's Commission

The Denver Women’s Commission promotes the social, economic and political quality of life in Denver by assisting women in the attainment of equality and full opportunity.
