Immigrant Integration Sponsorship Program

In 2015, the Denver Office of Immigrant & Refugee Affairs (DOIRA) started the Immigrant Integration Sponsorship with the intention of bringing diverse communities together. That year we put out a call to the community to come forward with their most creative ideas for community bridging, learning, sharing and understanding. Denver organizations, neighborhood groups and passionate individuals responded to the call in overwhelming ways and came up with some of the most impactful events/activities we had ever seen; being inclusive of newcomers and building community. Since 2015, we have grown in size and scope but remain dedicated to funding projects that are created and implemented by the community.

Funding is made available for small, community-driven projects designed to:

bridge immigrant and receiving communities
create stronger and more connected neighborhoods
address community needs
foster community

2024 DOIRA Immigrant Integration Sponsorship

To date, this program has funded 128 community generated and community implemented projects that build bridges and create connection among Denver residents. The maximum grant amount for the 2024 DOIRA Immigrant Integration Sponsorship is $1,500 and is matched with in-kind support, volunteer hours or other grants for the specified project. This year, DOIRA is especially focusing on supporting organizations/groups that are making targeted efforts to include our newcomer neighbors as well as long-time immigrant/refugee residents as a part of their sponsored programs, events, or projects.
