My City Academy

My City Academy helps immigrants, refugees, and newcomers in Denver connect with city resources and community support so they can settle in and thrive. This free community leadership program gives participants the tools to understand how city government works, find and connect with available resources, and grow as community leaders.

Cohort 1: Virtual

This first cohort will be held virtually and will include three weekly sessions to increase accessibility and support broader participation.

  • Session 1: 2/10/2026 (5pm–7pm) – Civic Engagement
    Learn how Denver’s city government is organized, how voting works, and how local and federal decisions affect our communities.
  • Session 2: 2/17/2026 (5pm–7pm) – Economic Mobility & Stability
    Learn about job and workforce services, small business support, worker rights, and basic financial skills.
  • Session 3: 2/24/2026 (5pm–7pm) – Safe & Affordable Housing
    Learn about housing programs, renter support, and affordable housing options in Denver.

Cohort 2: Green Valley Ranch

This in-person cohort at Green Valley Ranch will include two weekly sessions.

    Learn about Denver’s municipal government structure, how voting works, how City Council functions, and how recent federal changes may impact our communities.
  • Session 2: 4/4/2026 (12pm–2pm) – Safety Net Supports & Economic Mobility
    Learn how to navigate healthcare, education, and workforce systems, including financial literacy and technical training opportunities.
