In 2019, the Denver Office of Immigrant & Refugee Affairs (DOIRA) and Denver Police Department (DPD) partnered to develop My City Academy. This program was created with the goal of connecting immigrant, refugee, and newcomer residents in Denver with the many resources provided by the city and our community partners, to help them integrate.
My City Academy is FREE, there is no cost to participants. MCA provides language interpretation at the virtual and in-person sessions. When allowed to meet in-person, the office provides program materials, food/snacks, and childcare.
DOIRA continues to work with other city agencies to enhance programming and meet the different needs in the community. We now offer a business track in cooperation with Denver Economic Opportunity & Development, and will launch a civic engagement track in 2022 with the Clerk & Recorder’s and Elections Office.
