OSEI Training Programs

Community partners may request trainings from the Office of Social Equity and Innovation. Some of our past topics include:

OSEI Applying an Equity Lens

The city defines equity as a state in which race and social identities can no longer be used to predict life outcomes. The purpose of this training is to support learners as they develop and apply an equity lens, which is a set of questions used to embed equity in the design, execution, and assessment of processes, policies, programs, and budgets. Through this training, participants will examine how to apply an equity lens in their roles and responsibilities across the City and County of Denver and will have the opportunity to share strategies and ask important equity-related questions.

OSEI Building Impactful Racial Equity Action Plans

The purpose of this course is to support individuals and agency Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) teams in creating more measurable and more impactful Racial Equity Action Plan (REAP) strategies and outcomes.  We will use a logic model to walk through each phase of equity strategy creation, including identifying inequities, action planning, and determining impact. Our goal in providing this training across the city is to establish a more standardized and robust process for our equity work across the city.

OSEI Introduction to Data Equity

The purpose of this course is to introduce data practitioners and those whose work is data-adjacent to concepts of data equity. We will provide background on the historic role of data work in inequity, describe the role of measurement and evaluation in equity work, and explain how indicators are used in equity work. The goal in providing this training is to establish a common set of principles and practices by which city staff consider and conduct data-informed equity work.

OSEI Applying Data Equity Topics

This course is a follow-up to the Mayor’s Office of Social Equity and Innovation (OSEI) Introduction to Data Equity and is intended for data practitioners. We will explain how OSEI’s equity definition translates to an analysis context, describe steps for incorporating equity data analysis into an existing data project, and discuss equity-specific issues and potential solutions in data analysis. Our goal in providing this training is to provide more advanced examples and considerations to data practitioners conducting equity-specific projects.

OSEI Microaggressions and Equity in the Workplace

This course will provide participants with a basic understanding of microaggressions, how they may manifest in the workplace, and how they erode the spirit of belonging and inclusion in the workplace. Learners will gain an enhanced ability to recognize and resist microaggressions in speech and behavior and will become further equipped to pursue the City and County of Denver’s racial equity commitments and goals.

Gender Identity Training

This course provides a history of gender and an overview of gender identities and the basis for understanding and applying pronouns. Equips participants to create a more trans and gender-inclusive workplace.
