Youth, ages 5–18, can have a key to the city with a MY Denver Card in hand! Youth will get free access to recreation centers, swimming  pools and various cultural facilities where they can participate in healthy, safe and fun activities afterschool, during school and summer breaks, and on the weekends.

Library Activities, Events and Homework/Research Assistance

The MY Denver Card replaces any previously-issued card from Denver Public Library. To activate library privileges, present your MY Denver Card at any Denver Public Library location.

Activities and Events

  • IdeaLAB: Located in the Denver Central Library, this state-of-the-art digital media center provides teens access to professional-level equipment and software to create and record music and videos, explore digital art and create video games. Learn more.
  • Reading Rocket Bookmobiles: Can’t get to a Library? No problem! Every week, we visit 25 schools across the city providing books and materials. Anyone can climb on board and browse at any Reading Rocket stop. View the schedule.
  • Afterschool is Cool: One of Denver Public Library’s goals is to provide safe, enjoyable learning experiences for children. This program provides activities designed specifically for kids at Athmar Park, Green Valley Ranch, Pauline Robinson, Valdez-Perry and Westwood branch libraries.
  • Summer of Reading: This is our signature summer program, which encourages reading throughout the summer by providing fun incentives and offering free programs and events.

Recreation Center Activity Calendars for Arts, Education, Sports and Swimming

Denver recreation centers offer both structured and drop-in activities for MY Denver cardholders when school is out. This could include afterschool, during school breaks and some evening and weekend fun! Programs are available in a safe environment and are designed to contribute to the academic and social development of all children and youth. Activities vary, falling under five categories:

  • Sports and Wellness
  • Urban Arts and Culture
  • Science, Technology and Education
  • Social Recreation
  • Community Engagement

Cardholders can access any of Denver's 24 recreation centers, including 13 indoor swimming pools, and 16 outdoor pools, which are open during the summer months, all at no cost. The MY Denver Card also provides an awesome variety of "structured" programs led by qualified staff members at 24 recreation centers. Select the center of your choice to view the activity calendar and go have some fun!

Just signed up for your "first" MY Denver Card? Stop by one of our Denver recreation centers to take a photo and pick up your card, then your benefits will be activated. Cards are not mailed out.
