In April of 2021, the Major League Baseball (MLB) announced a last-minute move of the 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta, Georgia to Denver, Colorado. Each year, the game draws a crowds of over 100,000 people to take part in various activities in connection with the game over the weekend. In addition to the significant influx of people to our city, this year's game caused particular concern for potential protests in response to the political nature of moving the game.

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Joint Information Center (JIC) activated from July 9th through July 13th to monitor every aspect of the event weekend to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors alike. In addition, the activation ensured the city would be in place and ready to respond to any major incidents.
