City Spirit

The City Spirit employee picnic takes place once a year to honor and thank our hard-working city employees. The picnic typically takes place in the summer months and includes lunch, games, prizes, the City Spirit Shuffle and more.

City Spirit Canceled
The 2020 & 2021 City Spirit was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of all city employees is our top priority. Email OHR.Communications@denvergov.org if you have questions.

City Spirit Shuffle

In 2016, the city introduced the City Spirit Shuffle. Each year brings a new dance but a few things stay the same: it’s easy to learn, anyone can do it and it’s fun! Our employees learn the dance through online tutorials or joins after-hours practices. Mayor Hancock watches the dances performed at each of the City Spirit picnics - there are three to accommodate where our employee work. He then awards “best in show” to the City Spirit event with the most enthusiasm and participation. See the winners below.
