OSE Permit Now Required, Fees Waived Until Fall of 2022

In August 2021, the Office of Special Events (OSE) was added to the Denver's Revised Municipal Code. What does that mean for event organizers? Read on to find out.

• Required Application: Public events, held on public property (e.g., parks and streets), that are temporary in nature and work with two or more City agencies will now be required to complete an OSE application 60 days prior to the first day of the planned event. The OSE Application Checklist is an easy way to see if an event must submit an OSE application.
• Required Office of Special Event Permit (OSEP): Effective immediately, the OSEP is now a City requirement and will be issued to an event when all applicable City requirements have been met. The OSEP will not replace any other agency permits but will signify the final step in the city-wide event application process.
• Application Processing Fee: An OSE application processing fee based on event attendance will be charged beginning in late 2022 for events applying to take place in 2023. See the fee structure below for those details. 

       Attendees from 1 to 350 = $25 fee

       Attendees from 351 to 3,000 = $75 fee

       Attendees from 3,001 to 10,000 = $150 fee

       More than 10,001 attendees = $250

• Administrative Late Fees: An additional fee equal to double the application processing fee will be charged for a late submission of the OSE application (due 60 days prior to the first event date) and also for the late submission of OSEP requirements. Late fees will not go into effect until late 2022 for events taking place in 2023.
• Fee Discounts: Discount criteria for OSE processing fees are still being finalized.
