Street Sweeping April–November

Residential streets are swept once a month from April through November. Because we can't sweep under parked cars, there's a parking ban on sweeping day for the side of the block being swept. If your car is parked on the side of the street being swept on parking day, it will be ticketed and may be relocated.

Know your neighborhood's sweeping schedule: Check the signs on your block to see the schedule for your street; sweeping days may be different for each side of the street, and not every block has restrictions. Once you know your schedule, you can sign up for email and text reminders online.

If there are 3 or more unpaid tickets (or other outstanding citations) on a vehicle, a seizure warning notice will be issued, and a boot may be placed on your car. The boot won't be removed until all outstanding fines (including the additional $100 boot fee) are paid. If a vehicle is booted for 72 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) without payment, it will be considered abandoned and towed to impound. If a vehicle is towed to impound, an additional $100 tow fee will be charged.

Boot Removal

Payment by phone or online for booted vehicles can be made 24 hours a day.

If a vehicle has been towed, the owner/operator will also be responsible for paying any and all fees incurred at the impound lot before the vehicle is released from impound.

Boot Removal Operating Hours:
Boots will be removed Monday – Friday between: 6:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Boots will NOT be released on weekends, City holidays or between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am on weekdays.

Please note: Boot removal doesn't grant your vehicle any special parking privileges. Once the boot is removed, you must ensure that your car is parked legally to avoid further citation.

Just because your vehicle has been towed, that doesn't necessarily mean it's been impounded.

Denver, unlike many municipalities, doesn't automatically impound towed vehicles. Vehicles that are towed are often relocated to a nearby location and parked legally there. There is a $100 tow fee incurred for moving a vehicle.

If your vehicle's been towed, contact the Denver Police Non-Emergency line to locate it: 720-913-2000 (When you get the recorded message, hit 0 for the operator; they will look up your vehicle's location.)

Search for your impounded vehicle online by license, vehicle identification number (VIN) or date of impound.

If you don't know where your car's gone, call the Denver Police Non-Emergency line at 720-913-2000. When you get the recorded message, hit 0 for the operator.

If it's been relocated, they'll tell you where to find it; if it's been impounded, they'll direct you to the impound. If it has been stolen, you can report it to them directly.

Between April and November, residential streets in Denver are swept once per month where posted (not every block has restrictions), and residents are advised to pay attention to the red and white signs posted on their block for street sweeping parking restrictions so DOTI can provide the best street sweeping service possible.
