Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB)

The Denver Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) is comprised of 19 members appointed by each City Council member, the Mayor, and Denver Public Schools. Advisory Board members work closely with their appointing authority, the community and the Department to be stewards of the Denver Parks & Recreation system.

Regularly scheduled meetings are open to the public and occur on the second Wednesday of each month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Find meeting agendas and instructions on how to join below. To request a recording of a previous meeting, email Arthur.Gilkison@denvergov.org.

Mission Statement

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) Mission Statement
Revised January 12, 2011:

Support the values of sustainability, equity, engagement and sound economics, as detailed in the Denver Parks & Recreation (DPR) Game Plan.

Provide advice to the Department, which encompasses the diverse views of representatives from all Council Districts, the Mayor's Office, the Parks People, registered neighborhood organizations, local nonprofits, and the Denver community at-large.

Position Denver's parks and recreation centers in ways that fulfill the present needs of Denver residents, while respecting the past and planning for the future.

Notice of Public Hearing to Consider the Naming of Unnamed Park at 42nd and Lisbon

Notice is hereby given that the Department of Parks & Recreation for the City & County of Denver is considering naming of Unnamed Park at 42nd and Lisbon bounded by N. Lisbon Street to the east and N. Kirk St to the west. E. 40th Avenue to the south and E. 42nd Avenue to the north as  “William H. Whitsell Park” in response to a community effort led by his descendants, the Carey family.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) will hear public comments on this proposed renaming on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 5:30 pm at the Board’s regular meeting, currently being held online through Zoom.
