Notice of Park Building Plan Review at City Council

Monday, January 12, 2026:

As required by the Denver Revised Municipal Code, buildings larger than 3,000 square feet that are built on parkland must have a park building plan approved by Denver City Council.

Notice is hereby given that the Department of Parks & Recreation for the City & County of Denver is seeking approval of a park building plan for a new maintenance facility being constructed in City of Cuernavaca Park, at 3500 Rockmount Dr., to serve as a hub for DPR Staff who maintain parks in downtown and northwest Denver. The park building plan has been submitted to Denver City Council for review and consideration. City council will receive comments on the park building plan during their regular meeting on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 5:30 pm, prior to final action. Council’s regular meeting is held at the City and County Building, 1437 Bannock St. Room 450 with an online option via Zoom. Access the meeting online here

Those interested in speaking at the public hearing will have to sign up through the council process, which can be found here.  A copy of the plan has been filed with the Manager of Denver Parks and Recreation.

The Planning, Design, and Construction division leads the department's work in enhancing and expanding Denver’s park and recreation system, engaging with the community to integrate unique designs into projects that meet the recreational needs of neighborhoods throughout the city. Park Designation Process

This Policy is adopted by the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation (“DPR”) for the purpose of providing some clarity as to the designation status of and the protections afforded to Denver parks under the existing legal framework and to make clear the public process with respect to designation of Denver parks in accordance with the City Charter and City procedures.

Resources, Allocations & Priorities Plan

Developed in 2013, the RAP Plan identifies core services, points out duplication in services, recommends service provision strategies, and recommends resource allocation and pricing strategies. It enhances partnerships and helps meet the future needs of Denver residents, and those who work in and visit the community.
