Denver Days: Picnic & Public Event Permits

Denver Days is an annual community celebration held during the first week of August to encourage neighbors to get to know each other through local gatherings and service projects.

Park permit fees are waived for Denver Days events as long as they are free of charge and open to the public.  Denver Days picnics and public events must follow all park rules and regulations

How to get a Denver Days park permit:

Picnics

Step 1.Review reservation deadlines

Reservations for Denver Days picnics on a Saturday or Sunday must be made by the prior Friday at noon. Weekday reservations are accepted up to 24 hours before the picnic is to occur during the week, however, requests are not processed on Saturdays or Sundays.

Step 2.Review picnic site inventory

Find picnic site maps, capacity details, and other details on the picnic site inventory list

Step 3.Submit your request

Denver Days picnic reservations are accepted by email (park.permits@denvergov.org) or phone (720-913-0700, press 6). Please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Name of picnic (i.e. Neighborhood BBQ) + brief description
  • Number of attendees (must not exceed site capacity)
  • Organization name (if applicable)
  • Permit holder name, address, phone number and email address
  • Park requesting
  • Picnic site number requesting
  • Date of picnic + time of planned arrival

Picnic Event Rules

Picnics cannot have large sound systems, bands, food trucks, alcohol (for sale or service), and other similar features. Picnic attendees may consume their own beer, wine or champagne. The picnic event's activities must stay within the boundaries linked on the site maps on the inventory list

Public Events

Applications for Denver Days public events are accepted up to 30 days before the event is scheduled to occur. Reservation restrictions apply to certain parks. Learn more about public event permits

Step 1.Complete application

Download and complete the park permit application(PDF, 1MB). You may also contact the Park Permit office to have the application sent to you.

Step 2.Submit application

Applications for Denver Days public event permits are accepted by email only. Email your completed application to park.permits@denvergov.org

Step 3.Complete permit requirements

In order for your permit to be approved, you will typically have to provide a certificate of insurance (or acknowledgment of waiver) along with a site map and trash plan. Walkthroughs are required and arrangements for portable toilets are highly recommended. Payment of any hard costs (such as electricity on site) is also required. You will receive further information once your application has been received. Please allow 24 hours for processing.
