Private Outdoor Fee-Based Events

Private Outdoor Fee-Based Activities (POFA) are classes, camps, guided activities, programs, or related service organized and offered for fee, other consideration, or at no cost. POFA permits are issued for 6-month seasons. Please see Permit Process and Procedures below for more information.

Summer POFA Season: April - September 2023 

  • Limited number of POFA Sites available for permitting via application
  • 3 business days after application receipt: Preliminary permits emailed to applicants
  • 3 business days after preliminary permit sent: Final payment and insurance DUE
  • Next business day after due date: Approved permits available online in ActiveNet accounts

Winter POFA Season: October 2023 – March 2024

There are two opportunities to apply for a Winter 2023 POFA permit:

Round 1 Applications:

  • August 18: Applicants contacted via email with payment instructions; $25 (nonrefundable) application fee for each application submitted
  • August 21: Application fee deadline
  • August 22: If lottery is required, applicants will be notified and will be held same day
  • August 28: Preliminary permits or rejections emailed to applicants
  • Sept 1: Final payment and insurance due
  • Sept 8: Approved permits will be available online in ActiveNet accounts

Round 2 Applications

  • Sept 25: All remaining POFA sites will be available via application to park.permits@denvergov.org beginning at 8:00am
  • 3 business days after application receipt: Preliminary permits emailed to applicants
  • 3 business days after preliminary permit sent: Final payment and insurance DUE
  • Next business day after due date: Approved permits will be available online in ActiveNet accounts

It is the policy of Denver Department Parks and Recreation and its Manager (DPR), under circumstances appropriate for Denver parks, to permit citizens and organizations the use of specified areas within Denver parks for the provision of certain private outdoor fee-based activities and services to the public, subject to this policy.
