Private Outdoor Fee-Based Events

Private Outdoor Fee-Based Activity (POFA) is defined as a class, clinic, camp, guided activity, program or related service organized and offered by a Permittee for which payment, fee or other consideration is expected to be made to the Permittee. POFA is by-invitation-only or open to the public in general. POFA must be generally recreational in nature or common and customary park use.

It is the policy of Denver Department Parks and Recreation and its Manager (DPR), under circumstances appropriate for Denver parks, to permit citizens and organizations the use of specified areas within Denver parks for the provision of certain private outdoor fee-based activities and services to the public, subject to this policy.

Permit Procedures and Process

Summer POFA season: April - September 2022

There are two opportunities to apply for a Summer 2022 POFA permit:

ROUND 1 APPLICATIONS

  • Feb 7 – Feb 16: Applications accepted via email only at park.permits@denvergov.org beginning at 8am
  • Feb 18: Applicants contacted via email with payment instructions. $25 (non-refundable) application fee for each application submitted
  • Feb 22: Application fee deadline
  • Feb 23: If lottery is required, applicants will be notified
  • Feb 24: Lottery held, if required
  • Feb 28: Preliminary permits or rejections emailed to applicants
  • March 4: Final payment and insurance due
  • March 11: Approved permits available online in ActiveNet accounts

 

ROUND 2 APPLICATIONS

  • March 18: All remaining POFA sites available for permitting via application beginning at 8am
  • 3 business days after application receipt: Preliminary permits emailed to applicants
  • 3 business days after preliminary permit sent: Final payment and insurance DUE
  • Next business day after due date: Approved permits available online in ActiveNet accounts

 

Information on the Winter 2022/2023 POFA season will be posted the week of August 1, 2022
