EmpowHer Police Academy

The Denver Police Department is proud to announce the Women’s EmpowHer Academy. EmpowHer is a unique program aimed at recruiting and inspiring the next generation of female law enforcement officers. This academy will offer an immersive experience that provides insights into the career of a police officer, focusing on empowering women who are considering a future in law enforcement. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, including time on the DEVOC track, shooting range, and a basic self-defense lesson.

This schedule is designed to expose women applicants to recruit life and the opportunities that await them after the academy. From promoting through the ranks to finding a specialty niche, this academy will showcase the variety of roles throughout the department.

When: The Spring 2026 EmpowHer Academy will begin on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Components of the EmpowHer Academy include:

  • A tour of the Denver Police Firearms Range, weapons familiarization, and observing live action target practice.
  • Meet and chat with women detectives, get an inside look at criminal investigations - from the female perspective.
  • A course in police-precision driving taught by a master trainer who teaches Denver police officers.
  • Demo of specialized units, including the Bomb Squad and Air One.
  • Plus, countless opportunities to speak with women officers from all ranks. Hear from women, just like you, who are thriving at the Denver Police Department.

The Spring 2026 EmpowHer Academy is now at full capacity.
We are no longer accepting applications for the Spring 2026 class. However, you may still complete the interest form to be considered for future sessions.
