Denver Police Announce Coloring Page Art Contest for Denver Youth

Published on May 22, 2024

Denver – May 22, 2024 – Today, the Denver Police Department (DPD), in partnership with the Denver Police Foundation, announce a new youth engagement initiative, the For Youth By Youth Art Showcase and Contest. This is a coloring page art contest for Denver’s youth in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The contest, which will award twelve winners a $50 gift card, is open now and closes July 1, 2024.

The For Youth By Youth Art Showcase and Contest is an opportunity for Denver’s youth to create safety messages through art, which will later be shared with elementary-aged kids who will learn about safety while having fun coloring the designs. Twelve winners will be chosen by the community and awarded a $50 gift card – courtesy of the Denver Police Foundation, a tour of the Denver Police Crime Laboratory and a meet and greet with Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas.

Youth can submit their artwork and consent form at their respective Denver Police district station or email their artwork and consent form to christie.mochoruk@denvergov.org. One entry per youth, the design should be on standard 8.5x11 inch paper and must be original work – not computer generated. This is a fun way for kids to create art that will then be used as new art for those coloring the pages. The location of DPD District Stations where youth can submit their artwork is as follows:

  • District 1 - 1311 West 46th Avenue
  • District 2 - 3921 North Holly Street
  • District 3 - 1625 South University Boulevard
  • District 4 - 2100 South Clay Street
  • District 5 - 12025 East 45th Avenue
  • District 6 - 1566 North Washington Street

Once the contest closes, there will be an opportunity for the community to vote virtually on the coloring sheets. Artwork will be judged on creativity, reflection of the contest theme (safety), and originality.
