Denver Police Arrest Two Suspects Related to Downtown Shooting

Denver – Tuesday, June 3, 2025 – The Denver Police Department announces the arrest of 18-year-old Joseph Valdez (DOB: 12/27/2006) and 22-year-old Randall Valdez (DOB: 03/21/2003) for a shooting that occurred on June 2, 2025, in the area of 22nd Street and Larimer Street.

On Monday, June 2, 2025, at approximately 8:41 p.m., Denver Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at 22nd Street and Larimer Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital and his injury is non-life threatening. At approximately 9:06 p.m., several Shotspotter alerts and callers reported shots fired in the 2700 block of Blake Street. Officers quickly responded to the area and located and apprehended the suspects. There were two separate reports of the suspects firing shots at people at this location with no reported injuries.

The investigation revealed that the initial incident may have started as a verbal altercation and possible robbery involving the suspects and victim that escalated to the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing to determine what led to the second incident. Randall Valdez is being held for investigation of Attempted First Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Felony Menacing, and Attempted Aggravated Robbery. Joseph Valdez is being held for Investigation of Attempted First Degree Murder and Felony Menacing.

Per standard protocol, the final determination of charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
