Team Approach
Our Vision
Denver’s food system work is guided by the 2030 Denver Food Vision, a citywide commitment to building an equitable, resilient and healthy food system where every resident has access to the nutritious food and resources they need to thrive.
To understand where gaps exist and track progress toward this vision, DDPHE conducts regular community food insecurity assessments, and we invite you to learn more by exploring the survey highlights and our food access map.

Our Foundation
Everything DDPHE does is rooted in the core values of community, equity and sustainability. These values shape how we work, who we partner with and where we invest.
Community - We center the voices of Denver residents, especially those most impacted by food insecurity, in every decision we make.
Equity - We prioritize resources, investments and programs in communities that have historically marginalized.
Sustainability - We build lasting solutions that strengthen Denver's food system for generations to come.
Our Strategies
To address food insecurity and close gaps identified through community data and engagement, DDPHE uses five interconnected strategies.
- Research & Evaluation - We collect and analyze data to understand food insecurity trends, measure progress and identify the greatest needs. Explore our data.
- Community Engagement - We partner directly with residents, community organizations and advocacy groups to ensure programs and policies are grounded in real-world experiences.
- Technical Assistance - We support community partners, nonprofits and food businesses with the tools, training and resources they need to expand food access.
- Policy Development - We develop and implement policies that create systemic change and build a more equitable food system. View our policy work.
- Funding & Investment - We distribute funds to organizations and initiatives working on the frontlines of food access. Learn about our grants.
