Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) returns for its third year in spreading holiday cheer, love and warmth to shelter pets and our community alike. Bedtime Stories, an annual event that unites humans with canines and felines with the written word, is back on Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 18-19.
Bedtime Stories invites children, their guardians, and adults to arrive at the shelter in their coziest pajamas, with their favorite books, to sit outside the kennels and read to adoptable dogs and cats. You’ll spend the first 15 minutes making cards to put on animal kennels. The event raises funds that go toward caring for the most vulnerable pets in our community.
For a $20 donation to the shelter, families can sign up for a slot to read to our furry friends and help them drift off to sweet dreams. We’ll provide cookies, hot chocolate and holiday card-making supplies. Space is limited, sign up online.
As families have found out, animals and children can both bond over the pages of a book. Together, we can provide a gift of comfort that brings a little bit of home to pets as they wait for their forever homes.
