Ahead of Fall Virus Season, CDC Recommends Updated COVID-19 Booster

Just in time for the fall and winter virus season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have approved an updated COVID-19 vaccine. Updated vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna will be available later this week and expected to protect against newly circulating variants of COVID-19.

DDPHE Receives $2.4 Million to Expand Food Access in Denver

Equitable access to healthy, affordable and culturally relevant food is growing in Denver communities through the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment’s (DDPHE) Food in Communities (FIC) Program. DDPHE has received $2.4 million from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) beginning in July 2023 and continuing for the next three years.

Denver Animal Shelter Receives Petco Love Grant

Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) received a $22,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Denver. DAS will use this funding to improve the lives of Denver’s pets in need by bolstering the foster program and investing in further training for staff so the shelter can facilitate dog play and social groups.
