Public Health Investigations regulates public swimming facilities in the City and County of Denver.

These public pools are located in apartment complexes, hotels, public recreation centers, hospitals, and health clubs.

All of our investigators are Certified Pool Spa Operators through the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance.

Swimming pools are routinely inspected for the following:

  • Quality of the water. Disinfectant, pH levels, total alkalinity, and temperature.
  • Safety equipment. Guard lines, rescue hooks & rings, emergency phone or alarm.
  • Quality of the facility. General cleanliness and adequate construction.
  • Quality of the pool equipment. Pump room equipment, condition of plumbing & chemical storage.

Note: If a pool cover is proposed for installation, it shall be an approved safety cover that is certified, listed, and labeled to ASTM F1346-91 by an ANSI-accredited certification organization.
