Recycle your old holiday lights for free December 6, 2021 – January 8, 2022!

Last year, we recycled 5,966 lbs. of holiday lights. Great work everyone!

Do you have broken, burned-out or impossibly tangled sets of holiday lights stored away with last year’s holiday decorations?

Don’t throw them out – recycle them for free instead!  

How to Recycle Your Lights:

Step 1.Accepted for Drop-off:

  • Light strings and wires for incandescent, LED, and "icicle" lights.
  • Attached bulbs okay.

Not Accepted for Drop-off:

  • Bubble (liquid-filled) or neon lights.
  • Please remove light strings from packaging material.

Step 2.FREE Drop-off Locations:

1. Cherry Creek Recycling Drop-off

  • Located near the intersection of S. Quebec St. and E. Cherry Creek South Drive. Enter going south on Cherry Creek Dr. South (follow the signs).
  • Tuesday-Friday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and city holidays

2. Blue Star Recyclers 

Blue Star will be closed the week of December 27–31, and on Saturday, January 1. The drop site will reopen Monday, January 3.
