Service will be delayed one day following the holidays listed below:
2025
- New Year's Day: Wednesday, January 1
- Memorial Day: Monday, May 26
- Independence Day: Friday, July 4
- Labor Day: Monday, September 1
- Christmas Day: Thursday, December 25
When service falls on or after a holiday, your collection will be delayed one day for the rest of that week only. There will be no delays for city holidays that do not impact collection schedules.
For example, for a Monday holiday, collections will be on Tuesday, Tuesday's collection on Wednesday, etc., with Thursday's collections on Friday for that week only.
Schedule Modifications for Thanksgiving (Week of November 24):
Solid Waste staff will work Monday through Wednesday ONLY, observing Thanksgiving on Thursday and a citywide furlough day on Friday. Denver will not collect compost or recycling the week of Nov. 24, given the three-day workweek. Customers should set out their trash carts using the following schedule.
Customers have two options for setting out their trash that week.
Option 1: Set out your trash cart by Monday at 6 a.m. for collection over the course of Monday through Wednesday, or
Option 2: Follow this schedule.
Monday and Tuesday trash customers:
- Set out trash carts by 6 a.m. Monday, November 24, for collection over the course of Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday trash customers:
- Set out trash carts by 6 a.m. Tuesday, November 25.
Thursday trash customers:
- Set out trash cart by 6 a.m. Wednesday, November 26.
Residents scheduled to receive Large Item Pick-up the week of November 24 should set out their large items the same day they set out their trash as indicated above.
In 2025, the following will be working holidays; set your cart out on your regular collection day:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, January 20
- Presidents' Day: Monday, February 17
- Cesar Chavez Day: Monday, March 31
- Juneteenth: Thursday, June 19
- Indigenous Peoples' Day: Monday, October 13
- Veterans Day: Tuesday, November 11
