We are growing our team at the Office of Climate Action, Sustainability & Resiliency (CASR)! CASR works to enable a sustainable, resilient, climate-safe future for all of Denver in collaboration with fellow departments, other units of government, and community partners. We lead the development of innovative programs, policy, and community-based services. CASR ensures that our goals are aligned with current climate science, promotes the role that climate action and sustainability play in strengthening Denver's economic vitality and a prosperous future for all, and embraces equity as a value and practice in all its work. CASR is responsible for managing the Climate Protection Fund, which will disburse approximately $35M annually for climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience initiatives. CASR will also manage revenue from the city’s new bag fee which takes effect on July 1, 2021. Learn more at

Denver’s Green Workforce Vision

In 2021 Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency’s (CASR) and Office of Economic Development & Opportunity Workforce (DEDO) underwent a strategic planning process to develop a vision and plan for Denver that would address economic inclusion, workforce development, and climate action and sustainability.

Our vision is to create career pathways and expand opportunities for individuals from under-resourced communities and enable a just transition to support a climate-resilient and sustainable Denver.

We will do this through:

  • Quality: Design policies, incentives, and programs to drive demand for quality jobs
  • Access: Reduce barriers and increase access to programs and careers for residents from under-resourced communities, people of color, and workers in industries in transition
  • Quantity and Alignment: Jobs created align with Denver’s sustainability priorities

The Green Workforce Liaison will serve as a liaison between CASR and DEDO to ensure alignment between Denver’s Climate Protection Fund (CPF) and Denver’s Green Workforce Development Strategy. This position will work to implement both the CPF and Green Workforce Development Strategy in Denver. This includes ensuring that “green jobs” are also quality jobs. Quality jobs provide family supporting wages, benefits, and employers that provide quality services and products, and that engage workers to build skills and competitiveness. The position is located within CASR but will work closely with DEDO to support collaboration between departments.  Your primary role will be to support Denver to reach its climate, workforce, and economic inclusion goals.
