Southeast Denver Registered Neighborhood Organizations (RNOs) & Home Owners Associations (HOAs)

What is the difference between an Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) and Home Owners Association (HOA)?

HOA RNO
  •  Requires dues
  • Does not usually require dues
  • Must register with the state
  • Must register with the city
  • Membership/Boundaries determined by the complex/neighborhood
  •  Membership/Boundaries determined by neighbors & can include HOAs
  •  Does not get notifications from the city
  • Gets notifications from the city

Denver is fortunate enough to have a great number of active Registered Neighborhood Organizations (RNOs). They are important and helpful organizations that aid us in getting the work of the City & County done. They publicize important news, review land use issues and provide feedback and generally weigh in on matters facing their neighborhoods.

Denver Police Department Meetings & Resources

Community Advisory Board (CAB) Meetings

CAB Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of most months. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. Hosted by Commander Kyle and law enforcement leadership from DPD District 3. Learn about crime stats and trends that affect our neighborhoods. Questions and comments can be asked at the end of this meeting. Email Christie.Mochoruk@denvergov.org for a link to participate.

Neighborhood Watch Meetings

Denver Police District 3's Neighborhood Watch program encourages a partnership between officers and the residents they serve. Officers promote neighborhood connectivity by encouraging neighbors to get to know one another, and teaching residents how to effectively observe and report suspicious behavior. This program creates awareness through implicit bias education - reminding neighbors - it's the person's behavior, not the person to be mindful of when observing and reporting suspicious behavior to the Police. Email D3NeighborhoodWatch@denvergov.org for more information.

Block Communicator Meetings

This presentation is for those who have already participated in Neighborhood Watch Training and will cover the first steps in becoming the Neighborhood Watch point of contact for your block. Learn how to research crime stats in your area, search for sex offenders in your neighborhood, and request traffic monitoring/enforcement. Email D3NeighborhoodWatch@denvergov.org for more information.

Community Resource Officers

Community Resource Officers (CROs) provide assistance on issues such as neighbor disputes, public nuisances, zoning issues, fraud and crime prevention, and other neighborhood concerns. They attend regular neighborhood organization meetings and provide training on issues such as neighborhood watch, commercial and home security, gang awareness, crime prevention, and much more.
