Register a Vehicle

BRANCH CLOSURES ALERT: All Motor Vehicle offices will be CLOSED to the public Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19.

The 2-day closure will allow staff to process significant mail demand and reduce customer wait times. All locations will reopen to the public on Wed., October 20.

3 Ways to Renew Your Registration

There are three ways to renew your registration/plates without having to visit a Denver Motor Vehicle office.

1. Online

Visit mydmv.colorado.gov to renew online. Note: You can't renew all plate types online. You also can't renew online if you need to provide proof of insurance or an emissions test. If you encounter this issue, call 311 and we may be able to assist you by phone.

2. By Phone

Call 311 to see if you are eligible to renew by phone. Have your registration and credit card or checking account information available.

3. By Mail

After checking your renewal notice for Emissions or Insurance requirements, make a check payable to the Denver Manager of Finance for the total due. Please do not send cash.

Address the envelope to:
Denver Motor Vehicle
2855 Tremont Place
Denver, CO 80205

Include your payment, renewal card, and proof of emissions or insurance if required.

Notice and payment must be received before the last day of your grace period or late fees will apply, pursuant to C.R.S. § 42-4-112.
