Do Business With Us Remotely

Notice to the Public:  Due to a technological issue, some documents are not currently appearing in the recording department’s public online database search. The documents that are not appearing still exist and may be obtained by contacting the Recording office at 720-865-8699 or by emailing recording@denvergov.org. The indexing is still available on our website. Documents which are affected at this point include the following years:  1989 through 1999.  Only the following document types are affected:  Death Certificate, Judgment, Lien, Lis Pendens, Notice Extending Time to File a Lien, Partial Release, Partial Release of Federal Tax Lien, Release, Release Lien State, Release of Bond, Release of Federal Tax Lien, Release of Lien, Satisfaction of Judgment, Tax Lien, Tax Lien Federal, and Tax Lien State. 

At present, all documents outside of the date ranges mentioned are unaffected, and all other document types, regardless of date range are unaffected.  Please check back here for updates as they become available.

Many of our office’s services are available through online, mail, and other remote means.

Keep the following in mind as you do business with us using remote, mail, and drop box methods:

  • Items submitted via email cannot be recorded.
  • No cash payments are accepted. We can take personal checks and money orders, but not temporary checks or credit card information relayed over the phone.
  • Items received in our drop box are picked up within four hours during city business hours.
  • Include your phone number and/or email address with any items submitted via mail or drop box, in case we need to contact you with questions.
  • Pre-addressed envelopes for the return of recorded documents are not required but are always appreciated.
  • Call 311 for assistance with any of our remote services.

Marriage License & Recording

 

Submit documents for recording

Hard copy documents that need to be recorded may be sent via US Mail or package delivery (UPS, DHL, FedEx, etc) or deposited in the red Clerk and Recorder dropbox located near the Court Street entrance of the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building.

Include your phone number and/or email address with any items submitted via mail or dropbox, in case we need to contact you with questions.

Items are retrieved from the dropbox within four hours during city business hours.

Pre-addressed envelopes for the return of recorded documents are not required but are appreciated.

Submit your hard copy documents with a check or money order made out to the Manager of Finance for any applicable recording fees. We can't accept cash payments, temporary checks, or credit card information over the phone as payment for recording fees. Recording fee information is available on our Forms and Fees website.

Apply for a new marriage license

Our office is open for in-person and virtual marriage license appointments. For full details, visit the marriage and civil union webpage.

Drop off a signed marriage license for recording

Signed and completed marriage licenses may be sent via US mail or deposited at the red Clerk and Recorder's Office dropbox located near the Court Street entrance of the Webb Building. Your original copy will be returned to you via the US Postal Service.

Public Trustee & Foreclosure

File a release of deed of trust

Electronic filings can be made through Simplifile or CSC. Only Qualified Holders may file electronically.

Releases may also be sent for filing via US Postal Service, FedEx, or UPS.

Full release packets in hard copy may be placed in the red Clerk and Recorder's Office drop box located near the Webb Building's Court Street entrance. These packets will be retrieved by our staff within four hours of receipt during city business hours.

Check your documents carefully to ensure you are submitting a full release packet. Be sure to include a phone number and/or email address with your submission so we may contact you with any questions.

File a new foreclosure

For Qualified Holders, new foreclosure actions can be filed electronically via email to foreclosures@denvergov.org.

Law firms with existing accounts to commence foreclosure proceedings can still file those documents via their approved foreclosure portal.

New foreclosures may also be filed via US Postal Service, FedEx, or UPS.

Couriered or other hand-delivered foreclosure filings cannot be accepted at our counters until in-person services are restored.

Hard copy foreclosure packets may be deposited in the red Clerk and Recorder's Office drop box located near the Webb Building's Court Street entrance. Packets will be retrieved by our staff within four hours of receipt during city business hours.

Submit an intent to cure or a cure payment

Intents to cure may be filed via US Postal Service, FedEx, UPS, or via email to foreclosures@denvergov.org. All intents to cure submitted during the suspension must be notarized.

Hard copy intents to cure may be placed in the red Clerk and Recorder's Office dropbox located near the Webb Building's Court Street entrance and will be retrieved by our staff within four hours of receipt during city business hours.

Cure payments may be made to our office via wire transfer. Instructions for making payment via wire transfer can be found on our website.

Our office will accept certified funds submitted via the drop box. Your certified payment must be submitted with the payment’s intended purpose and your foreclosure file information on the outside of the envelope. Funds submitted using the drop box will be retrieved by our staff within four hours of receipt during city business hours.

WE CANNOT ACCEPT CASH PAYMENTS VIA THE DROP BOX.


Remit payment related to a foreclosure auction

Sale deposits and final payments may be made via wire transfer. Instructions for making payment via wire transfer can be obtained through our auction site, denver.realforeclose.com.

Our office will accept certified funds submitted in our dedicated drop box.

Your certified payment must be submitted with the payment’s intended purpose, your name or company name, and your bidder number on the outside of the envelope.

Payments received via drop box will be retrieved by our staff within four hours of receipt during city business hours.

DO NOT SUBMIT CASH IN THE DROPBOX.


Submit an intent to redeem or redemption payment

Payments may be submitted via drop box. Include your certified funds (a cashier’s check) with the payment’s intended purpose and your foreclosure file information on the outside of the envelope.
