When are indoor pools reopening?
All indoor pools are anticipated to open fall 2021. Find currently open pools.
Why has it taken so long for recreation centers to open?
DPR has been without approximately 1,200 on-call employees to staff its numerous programs and 30 facilities. Since early in the pandemic, recreation centers, and full-time staff have had to adjust to serve the pressing needs of the city. Centers have been repurposed and staff have been redeployed to support testing and vaccination efforts, emergency shelters, free meal service, online learning labs, virtual programming, park operations, and partnered with other Denver agencies to deliver essential services for the public.
Why aren't all centers open?
Decisions regarding our reopening plan are guided by equity and considering neighborhoods of greatest need, along with current staffing limitations. Services have been distributed throughout the city to maximize reach while staff are recruited, rehired, and trained. Centers will continue to open throughout 2021.
What is the cost to use facilities or participate in programs?
The entrance fee is $2 unless the customer has a free membership such as SilverSneakers, MY Denver PRIME, Renew Active, or MY Denver Card. Swim lessons and other program costs vary based on the activity and supplies needed.
How do I register for programs?
Registrations for programs are open online and by phone. Capacity and pricing vary by activity. Access to centers hosting programs requires registration/activity participation.
There is no cost to participate in MY Denver programs and registration is not required.
How do I enroll in a free membership?
Those who are eligible for MY Denver Prime, SilverSneakers or Renew Active memberships can sign up at open recreation centers, Monday through Friday.
Can I get a refund for my pass from last year?
DPR pass holders were offered refunds at the end of 2020. For those that were not refunded, credits were issued to their household account which can be applied to any future activities, swim block, or workout block registration. Please contact PR_OnlineServiceCenter@denvergov.org for questions.
What protocols are in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19?
Denver Parks and Recreation is committed to the safety of our customers and staff with the following protocols in place at all facilities and program sites:
- All customers must have an up-to-date account in ActiveNet for contact tracing purposes.
- Thorough disinfection will be completed between each workout block or program using EPA registered disinfectants.
- Hand sanitation and disinfection stations are available.
- Touch dispensers (soap dispensers, paper towels, etc.) have been converted to touchless dispensers, where possible.
What is the cleaning protocol?
Staff disinfect high-touch surfaces such as counters, doors and equipment as frequently as possible. All customers are asked to wipe down equipment before and after use.
All programs spaces are disinfected after each use by the instructors. The program center schedule includes in-depth cleaning and disinfection periodically. All participants are required to assist with disinfecting program spaces, equipment and materials after use.
DPR uses a variety of products to clean and disinfect center and program sites. All products are EPA registered and included on their list of disinfectants that kill COVID-19.
Will there be additional ventilation?
To mitigate the possibility of airborne spread of COVID-19, DPR has made efforts to increase air flow throughout the building, including open doors and windows, and use of fans. As a result, some buildings may be warmer or cooler than usual.
What if desired equipment is unavailable?
Specific pieces of equipment are not available for reservation. DPR will be enforcing 30-minute time limits on all machines. All pieces of equipment are first-come, first-served.
What if someone does not clean their equipment after using it?
All customers are asked to wipe down equipment before and after use. Additionally, DPR staff perform routine walk-throughs to monitor use and wipe down any unoccupied machines. Please notify DPR staff of any equipment that needs to be cleaned.
Are reservations available for birthday parties or daycare groups?
We are currently unable to accommodate large groups, including daycares and birthday parties.
Are Recreation Center rentals available?
Recreation facility rentals are anticipated to be available again in 2022.
