Here's what you can expect:

Nurses working with the Denver Sheriff Department (DSD) administer services for the patient population of the Denver County Jail and the Downtown Detention Center. Corrections nurses come from all areas of nursing and provide primary care, intake health assessments, urgent/emergent care, chronic disease clinics, women’s care, behavioral health services, and much more!

Our nurses work with a vulnerable population who often have limited access to health care and engage in high risk behaviors, including substance abuse. There are many benefits of working in correctional care, such as:

  • A high level of autonomy.
  • Daily use of critical thinking skills.
  • Caring for a primarily ambulatory population.
  • Exciting work environment.
  • DSD officers present in all areas.
