Denver Animal Shelter adoptions are open though we are not permitting parties to self-tour through adoptable animals. Current adoptable animals are displayed online, and customers can select a maximum of two animals to visit at the shelter. To assist customers with adoptions, DAP is offering its Adoption Hold Program via telephone. Customers can call 720-337-1810 to place an adoption hold, prior to the animal becoming available for adoption. Visit our Lost Pets page to view animals available for holds. Adoption holds are a $20 and $15 (for 2nd hold) donation.
Please read the signage when arriving at the shelter and follow all social distancing markers. We respectfully request that anyone who is currently ill (or has any known risk factors related to the virus) not visit Denver Animal Shelter. A mask/face covering, and six-feet social distancing will be required.
Although our online database is updated daily, we constantly have new animals coming to the shelter and often have more pets at the shelter than appear online. Adoptions happen quickly, so we cannot guarantee the availability of all animals listed below.
Denver Animal Protection (DAP) provides care to more than 12,000 pets each year. DAP operates Denver Animal Shelter (DAS), an open-admissions shelter that is home to more than 6,000 lost and abandoned pets each year.
