How to Submit an Application
There are a variety of ways that you can submit your New or Renewal application to the Department of Excise and Licenses. If renewing, please make sure to include your Business File Number (BFN) with the submittal.
- In an effort to protect public safety, in-person customer service at Excise and Licenses is being offered by appointment only. Please visit our appointments website to make an appointment.
- All license applications not available online can be submitted via email, EXLSubmit@denvergov.org, during this health crisis. When submitting your email application, please attach all documents pertaining to your license application to ONE email. Please visit our email application process page for more information on submitting email applications.
- You may also mail in your application with fees to:

You may also pay for your applications online or via phone once you have submitted your application to Excise and Licenses. We will send you an invoice and you may pay virtually. Please visit our online payment process page for more information on how to submit payment for your applications.

The Denver Department of Excise and Licenses provides you with the resources you need for a variety of licenses listed on our Index. If you need information regarding Sales Tax ,FDA, Lodger's, Occupational Privilege Tax, Special Event Sales Tax, Telecommunication Business Tax, and or Property Tax please contact the Treasury. If you do not see your type of business on our website, we cannot issue a license to you.
Open Records Requests
To pay for the cost of processing a Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request, the agency custodian may charge for the time spent to research and respond to records requests under CORA. Following the Colorado Revised Statutes C.R.S. §24-72-205(6), agency custodians may charge $33 per hour for researching, retrieving and reviewing records. There is no charge for the first hour of research, retrieval and review of records.

COLORADO OPEN RECORDS ACT FEE POLICY
Fee Increase! Effective Friday, July 26, 2019, the City is increasing the CORA research, retrieval and review fee to $33.00. CORA permits the State Legislative Council to review and increase the CORA hourly fee every 5 years. The Legislative Council has increased the state fee to $33.58. For ease, the City will go to $33.00 per hour after the first free hour.
