Community Corrections Facilities

Facility and Location:  Community Education Centers, Tooley Hall, 4280 Kearney St., Denver, CO 80216

Population Types:  Adult female offenders either transitioning from the Department of Corrections or offenders sentenced through Denver District Courts.

Program Description:  Tooley Hall is a 73-bed community corrections facility. Our mission is to provide a healthy, drug-free, safe and secure environment within which we will provide treatment and education services that focus on changing addictive and criminal behaviors. It is our goal to release our residents with the skills that will assist them in their recovery, to lead a crime-free lifestyle and to learn social and personal skills which lead to healthy living for themselves and their families.

Program Description:  Williams Street Center is an 84-bed community corrections facility.  Our mission is to provide a healthy, drug-free, safe and secure environment within which we will provide treatment and education services that focus on changing addictive and criminal behaviors. It is our goal to release our residents with the skills that will assist them in their recovery, to lead a crime-free lifestyle and to learn social and personal skills which lead to healthy living for themselves and their families. 

Facility and Location: Correctional Management Inc – Columbine, 4280 Columbine St., Denver, CO 80216

Population Types: Adult male offenders either transitioning from the Department of Corrections or offenders sentenced through Denver District Courts.

Program Description: Columbine is a 60-bed community corrections facility. Columbine runs the pilot program for Denver Condition of Probation clients. These clients are on probation and sent to Columbine for a period of 120 days to get stable before returning to probation.

Population Types: Adult male offenders either transitioning from the Department of Corrections or offenders sentenced through Denver District Courts.

Program Description: Dahlia is currently a 78-bed community corrections facility. Dahlia has approval for 120 beds and will eventually increase to that capacity. This facility is unique because they run the Long-Term Offender Program (LTOP). The LTOP program is a partnership with the Department of Corrections Parole Division, Sterling Correctional facility, Denver County Sheriff’s Department and the CMI-Dahlia facility. The goal of LTOP is to assist offenders who have been incarcerated long term with a smooth transition into the community by providing additional programming and support.

Population Types: Adult male offenders either transitioning from the Department of Corrections or offenders sentenced through Denver District Courts.

Program Description: Fox is a 90-bed community corrections facility. In July 2011, Fox began operating a 90-day Intensive Residential Treatment (IRT) program for community corrections clients with severe substance abuse issues. Each week, IRT clients complete 20 hours of therapy and 20 hours of education (cognitive behavioral, employment training, parenting, financial planning, etc.). The IRT clients are supervised differently than the regular community corrections client. They are not allowed to sign out of the facility unsupervised unless there is a medical or family emergency. They do not work; therefore, they do not have to pay subsistence fees.

Population Types: Adult male offenders either transitioning from the Department of Corrections or offenders sentenced through Denver District Courts.

Program Description: Ulster is a 90-bed community corrections program and as with all other CMI Denver programs provides comprehensive residential treatment services to offenders. Each client is assessed by professional staff utilizing instruments designed to elicit criminogenic needs and offender risks. A clearly defined, individualized treatment plan is developed with the client. Our goal is to release clients with skill appropriate employment, cash savings, suitable housing, and an addiction-free lifestyle, enhanced impulse control, and improved problem-solving skills.

Facility and Location: Independence House Pecos, 4101 Pecos St.., Denver, CO 80211

Population Types:  Adult males either transitioning from the Department of Corrections or offenders sentenced through Denver District Courts.

Program Description: Pecos has been in operation since 1976 and currently houses 75 adult males. Pecos offers the Heavy Equipment Construction Technology Program. Currently Pecos is the only facility in the state to work with these clients. These are a special group of hand selected inmates from Sterling Correctional Facility and Buena Vista Correctional facility. During their placement in the program, NCCER certified instructors will coach them in various different trades including concrete work, building construction, vehicle and equipment maintenance, steel fabrication and excavation work.

Facility and Location:  The Haven, 3732 W. Princeton Circle, Denver, CO  80236

Population Types:  Adult females, including pregnant women and women with infant children in need of long term, residential substance abuse treatment. Additionally, offenders may have a dual diagnosis, SOAR level 4d, multiple treatment failure and extensive criminal justice involvement. 

Program Description:  The Haven, in operation since 1992, is a 65-bed Modified Therapeutic Community (TC) providing treatment for women with chronic substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health.  The Haven is unique in that it allows pregnant women and women with infant children to reside in treatment together.  While in treatment, clients receive services that not only focus on recovery from substances and maintenance of mental health, but treatment that focuses on social functioning, education/vocational skills, and positive community and family ties.  Participants learn to be accountable to the TC community through a hierarchical model of treatment stages that reflect increased levels of personal and social responsibility.
