COVID-19 Operational Updates

Park Road & Parking Lot Closures

Roads and parking lots are closed in various parks throughout the city to provide more space for park visitors to practice physical distancing while walking, jogging, biking, and enjoying other types of recreation. ADA parking spots are provided along the perimeter of the park where roads have been blocked.

Beginning July 6, 2021:

DPR will begin the third phase of reopening recreation centers, which includes Washington Park Recreation center. As planned, vehicle access to the recreation center will open via Franklin Street at both the E. Exposition and E. Kentucky Avenue entrances. View the Washington Park road closure map.(PDF, 852KB)

Open Facilities

  • Bike parks

  • Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave at Lookout Mountain (Friday-Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

  • Civic Center Park

  • Dog parks

  • Disc golf courses

  • Exercise equipment

  • Futsal courts

  • Golf courses

  • Permitted & Non-permitted athletic fields

  • Playgrounds

  • Recreation Centers and Outdoor Pools (limited number and hours of operation)

  • Red Rocks Park

  • Sport courts (tennis, basketball, croquet, etc.)

  • Skate parks

  • Slackline course (Harvard Gulch Park)

PLEASE NOTE: Playgrounds and other park equipment are not disinfected by operations staff. When using park facilities, consider these precautions:

  • Practice good hand hygiene, using hand sanitizer frequently when soap and water is not available
  • Recreate safely in groups of 25 or less. If from more than 1 household, physically distance yourself from others by at least 6 feet
  • Wear a face covering


Closed Facilities

These facilities are closed until further notice to discourage large gatherings and encourage physical distancing and/or an inability to sufficiently clean at an acceptable frequency, or lack of staff available to maintain them:

  • Fountains: drinking, decorative and interactive
  • Motorized boating
  • Restrooms

16 centers are currently open Monday-Friday (hours below) and provide access to weight and cardio rooms, gymnasiums, and locker rooms: 


  • $2 per entry
  • Free for MY Denver, MY Denver Prime, SilverSneakers and Renew Active participants.
  • Payment can be made in-person. (non-refundable)
