Arrest in Shooting on South Federal

DENVER – Thursday, January 28, 2021 – Today, the Denver Police Department announces the arrest of Guadalupe Jose Villanueva, DOB 6/29/2001, for the double shooting on South Federal in late 2020. Villanueva is being held for investigation of First-Degree Attempted Murder – Extreme Indifference, First-Degree Assault, and Second-Degree Attempted Murder.
On December 28, 2020, Denver Police officers responded to 2969 South Federal on a report of two people who were shot, one of them being a child. Thanks to tips from the community, Denver Police investigators identified Villanueva and secured a warrant for his arrest.
On January 24, 2021, Villanueva was taken into custody in El Paso, Texas, where he is currently being held. He will be extradited back to Denver.
The child who was shot remains in critical condition but is now expected to survive her injuries. The adult victim was treated and released.
