Recycle, Compost, & Trash

The City and County of Denver collects more than 220,000 tons of waste from Denver homes each year. That's an average of 1.2 tons per household each year. Denver uses an integrated collection strategy to recycle, and dispose of residential waste in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Each week Denver Solid Waste Management crews collect trash, recycling, and compost from curbsides and alleyways. At other scheduled times, Solid Waste Management collects large items such as unwanted furniture and extra trash.  Appliances and Household Hazardous Waste materials are collected by appointment by vendors contracted by Solid Waste Management.
