When the dispute portal opens on Monday, September 14, you must submit complete and accurate documentation in order for your dispute to be considered by the City and County of Denver. Please review the following guidance on required documentation depending on the nature of your dispute.
If you are disputing a citation because you sold your vehicle prior to issuance of the citation, you must provide any two (2) of the following documents:
Proof of cancellation of your registration:
- Vehicle registration, showing plate cancellation
- A DMV printout indicating vehicle plates were cancelled
- Colorado DMV Release of Liability
Proof of title transfer/sale:
- A Bill of Sale
- A title change (transfer)
- A trade-in agreement with a dealer
- Towing/salvage company paperwork (vehicle sold or disposed of)
- A copy of a Divorce Decree
- A copy of a donation receipt or paperwork showing a vehicle was donated
- A copy of bank/finance papers showing vehicle was repossessed
If you are disputing a citation because your license plate was stolen prior to the issuance of the citation, you must provide two of the following documents:
- A copy of the stolen plate police report
- A copy of replacement registration
- Proof of cancellation of the old plate
If you are disputing a citation because you were in possession of a valid disability placard at the time the parking citation was issued, you must provide:
- A copy of your state-issued Disability Placard and Placard Registration. The documentation must include an expiration date and the registration form.
If you are disputing a citation because the registered owner is deceased, you must provide:
- A copy of the death certificate on behalf of the deceased registered owner. Note: the citation(s) must have been issued prior to the death of the registered owner in order to be considered for review.
If you are disputing a citation for an expired or missing rear license plate, but your vehicle/license plate was registered at the time the parking citation was issued, you must provide:
- A copy of the front and back of your vehicle registration from the issuing state
If you are disputing a citation because you were in possession of a valid parking permit at the time the parking citation was issued, you must provide:
If you are disputing a citation because you paid for parking during the time which the parking citation was issued, you must provide:
- A copy of your receipt or screenshot showing proof of payment for the referenced parking session
If you are disputing a citation because you have already paid for the parking citation, you must provide:
- The payment method (check or credit card, including check number or last 4 digits of the credit card)
- Date of payment
- Any receipt that you may have received
