Neighborhood House Child Care Center

Project Overview

The Better Denver Bond Program is funding $1.3 Million for the renovation and stabilization of Neighborhood House in order to provide a better and more useful facility, and to extend the life of the building. Renovations will be made to the facility’s cooling system, electrical service, plumbing, fire safety/alarm systems, and energy efficient lighting will be installed. Interior modifications will be done to meet code requirements and to accommodate the program of the tenant.  The exterior of the building will be modified to create a water-tight envelope, helping to stabilize the building. Additionally, minor site improvements will be made. The renovations are anticipated to be complete by late summer of 2012.

Neighborhood House, a historic structure built in 1906, is located at 1265 Mariposa Street on dedicated park land in Lincoln Park.  The building was used as a childcare center for over 100 years.  The Bridge Project, a non-profit organization through the Denver Housing Authority, is the new tenant leasing the building for an after-school tutoring program.
