In a few days, Walnut Street in the River North community will soon have a new look and feel to help calm traffic and improve circulation in the area. In conjunction with recent repaving efforts, Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI) will convert a stretch of the corridor between Broadway and Downing from one-way to two-way travel. The conversion will create a safer street that reduces vehicle speeds, improves circulation for people walking, biking and driving, and better defines parking and loading zones.

Glenarm Recreation Center, located at 2800 Glenarm Pl., has opened as an emergency shelter for women and transgender individuals experiencing homelessness. The facility is open as a day and overnight shelter, through lunchtime on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

The primary goal for this project is to locate an adventure bicycle and snow sports facility building on the hill overlooking the rail yard bowl with proximity to existing pedestrian and vehicular access points. The concept plan develops relationships between the building and the surrounding site and includes a bike skills courses (both beginner and intermediate), picnicking opportunities, public art, and a splash pad. The concept also includes a new facility for bike rentals, storage, public bathrooms, and offices for DPR staff.
