We will provide counter service updates here to enable you to plan your visit as best as possible.
Regular operating hours for all Community Planning and Development services are posted on our Contact Us page.
All counters will temporarily close from 8 – 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9th to allow staff to attend an all-employee meeting.
Thank you for your understanding.
Monday, September 11 --
We have launched a new system for checking in at the permit counter that allows you to schedule an appointment for Log In, Single-family/Duplex Walk-through, and Logged-in Plan Pick-up. Walk-ins will still be accepted for these lines as well.
The last day to check in remotely for the permit counter by phone or online is Tuesday, September 12. Remote check-in by phone (calling/texting) is not supported by the new technology and is ending as we make this switch.
Counter hours and check-in times have not changed.
The network issues have been fixed and all permit operations are functioning normally.
City-wide technology outages are affecting permitting services. At this time, we are unable to access Accela - the system we use to create and issue permits.
Walk-through services (commercial, residential, and zoning)
We are still able to review plans and answer questions. However, please be aware that you will not receive your permit today. Approved plans will be held and our team will use them to create and issue permits as soon as the permitting system is back online. Cashiering will then call you for payment and will email your permit, or you can come in and pay by check.
Log In/Resubmittal services
We are still taking in plans at these counters. The only impact is that you are unable to pay plan review fees today - once the system is back online, cashiering will call you for payment or you can come in and pay by check.
Logged-in Plan Pick-up
Unfortunately, we cannot access Accela to verify and release approved plans or issue permits at this time. Please check back here for updates before planning your visit.
For all projects, we recommend that you submit permit applications via email if you are applying for a quick permit, commercial zoning permit, landmark approval, sewer use and drainage permit (SUDP) or detached garage.

Please plan accordingly, and thank you for your understanding.
Updated May 31, 2017: Systems have been repaired.
System-wide software issues are impacting our ability to see customers, process transactions, and issue permits.
We are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please be aware that customer impacts so far include:
In the meantime, we encourage customers to use our phone or email contacts for questions and inquiries rather than coming to the permit counter in person.
If possible, we also recommend that you submit permit applications via email if you are applying for a quick permit, commercial zoning permit, landmark approval, sewer use and drainage permit (SUDP) or detached garage.
For permit applications that are not time sensitive, please postpone making your submittal until the software issues have been resolved.
UPDATED MAY 9: All systems are restored and functional.
The technology vendor that manages our check-in functions for the permit counter has been experiencing degraded performance and outages on their servers.
As a result, customers are unable to use the QLess check-in functions (phone, text, online, kiosk) at this time. The inability to access QLess servers is also impacting our level of service at the permit counter. If you are coming in person to the counter, please be prepared for longer wait times than usual.
