The research, planning and community input that went into the Northeast Downtown Neighborhoods Plan, the 21st Street/Wynkoop Street Urban Design Plan and, more recently, the 21st Street Demonstration Project are coming to fruition with the opening next month of the Square on 21st. This pop-up park, on 21st Street between Larimer and Lawrence streets, will create a new kind of open, gathering space for residents and visitors in downtown Denver from June 15 to August 15.
After weeks of preparation, painting and planting, it's finally time to open the Square on 21st. Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock will be on hand Thursday, June 15, along with city staff, partners and neighbors as the fences come down and the park officially opens for the summer. There will be live music, vendors and lawn games. Come at 11:30 a.m. for the official opening festivities or at any time during the day to enjoy the park.
