Community Partners

Denver Animal Shelter collaborates with several community partners throughout the metro Denver area. These partners provide support in a variety of ways, such as funding assistance, discounts of supplies, animal training / socializing assistance, volunteer support, or helping us to build awareness in the community. Please support our partners as they support our efforts to help Denver County's neediest animals. Several partners have designed special offers in support of DAS's efforts and give back a portion of their proceeds to directly benefit the animals in our care and the programs we offer.

If you would like more information on becoming a community partner, contact our Community Partnerships Manager, Jill Brown at

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASCPA) has provided tremendous support for the Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) through the funding of several grant projects. Over the past two years, these generous grants have made the following projects and trainings possible:
  1. Emancipet Grant - the generous grant of $13,650 was awarded to send our Veterinarian and three Veterinary Technicians to train with Emancipet – experts in high volume spay/neuter and preventative veterinary care – in Austin, Texas. During the training with Emancipet, our vet staff learned many different surgical and clinical techniques to improve efficiency. These new techniques and practices have since been implemented in our vet staffs’ daily work, ultimately allowing us to better serve the 7,500 animals we see annually at DAS.
  2. Shelter Cat Project Grant - $13,000 was awarded to fund spay/neuter & medical tests for feral/community cats as well as fund the purchase of humane traps and associated program expenses. The grant funding allowed us to serve 100 community cats in Denver through the trap-neuter/spay-return program and provided us with the foundation to continue serving community cats in Denver.
  3. Pre-adoption Spay/Neuter Grant - $17,000 was awarded to help reduce the length of stay of our adoptable animals in the shelter. These funds allowed us to utilize external spay/neuter services that nearly eliminated the delay between surgery and adoption. This grant helped us to serve 272 dogs and cats at DAS.
  4. HSUS Conference Grant - $500 scholarship was awarded to send Denver Animal Shelter staff to the 2014 Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Animal Care Expo Conference. The conference provided staff with knowledge and training regarding best practices in the animal welfare industry which were brought back to Denver Animal Shelter and implemented in our daily work.
  5. Lil Bub’s Big Fund Special Needs Animals Grant - $1,000 grant awarded to help place special needs animals that are easy to love, but hard to adopt due to special medical needs. The grant allows DAS to provide as needed adoption incentives such as waived adoption fees, special food diet, medication, and blood work specific to each animal.
