Short-Term Rental Citations

Paying Your Citation

Using your credit card, you can now make an online payment to the Office of Excise & Licenses for Short-Term Rental Citations. The citation number must be entered exactly as it appears on the physical copy of your citation.

Payment and compliance are due within fourteen (14) days of issuance.

Warning: The City and County of Denver may seek collection of late fees, interest and any unpaid fines by any appropriate means of collection, including collection agencies.

First penalty administrative citation is $150. Please be sure to enter your citation number exactly as it appears on the physical copy of your citation.

 

Second penalty administrative citation is $500. Please be sure to enter your citation number exactly as it appears on the physical copy of your citation.

 

Third, fourth, or fifth penalty administrative citation is $999. Please be sure to enter your citation number exactly as it appears on the physical copy of your citation.

 

If you are appealing your Citation or other amount, the non-refundable Appeal Filing Fee is $100. Please be sure to enter your citation number exactly as it appears on the physical copy of your citation.

 

Appeal Your Citation

You have the right to request a hearing to review issuance of your citation by filing a petition.

If you would like to request a hearing, you may do so by submitting an Appeal Request Form, along with a non-refundable $100 filing fee, within 14 days of issuance of the citation. The Appeal Request must contain the required information as provided in the Rules and Regulations Governing the use of Administrative Citations.

Short-Term Rental Business License

The annual fee for a Short-Term Rental Business License is $25.

  • You must apply and renew your STR Business License online. 
  • You may renew your existing license up to 60 days prior to the expiration date.
  • Late fees will be assessed for renewing after your license has expired.
  • Warning: The City and County of Denver may seek collection of late fees, interest and any unpaid fines by any appropriate means of collection, including collection agencies.
