Truck Loading Permit

It shall be unlawful for any person to stop, stand or park any vehicle in any parking space reserved and marked "Truck Loading Only" unless such vehicle is licensed as a truck and bears truck registration plates, or shall have affixed to the lower left-hand corner of the windshield of the vehicle adjacent to the state inspection sticker, a special license sticker issued by the director of Excise and Licenses indicating that the owner or operator of the vehicle has paid the fee for a license to park a vehicle other than truck licensed as such in a truck loading zone. Application for a permit to park in a truck loading, by permit only, zone shall be made to the city traffic engineer, in writing, on letterhead stationery of the company applying for such a permit.  

How to Get a Business License

Application Fee: $25.00

Annual license Fee: $100.00 

Checks should be made payable to the Manager of Finance. 

We are not able to accept credit card payments over the phone or through the mail at this time.

 

Public Works Truck Loading Permit Annual license Fee: $100.00

Your license will be issued when the following actions are taken: 

  1. All documents required for the license are complete and submitted to Excise and Licenses. 
  2. The background check, if required, is approved
  3. Fees are paid in full

Renew a Business License

Renew in Person
Come to the Department of Excise and Licenses office which is located on the second floor of the Wellington Webb Municipal Office Building at 201 W. Colfax Avenue in Denver. 

Sign into the Kiosk just inside our doorway on the left.

When you are summoned to the counter, explain to the technician you wish to renew your business license.

If all renewal documentation is complete you will be issued an invoice for the renewal fees. 

Take the invoice to the cashier and pay the annual renewal license fee.

Return to the Department of Excise and Licenses office with your receipt for payment if license is not provided at cashier. 

Note: Most renewals are printed at the cashier.(except liquor and marijuana) New licenses will be printed by the tech at the counter in Excise and Licenses after payment has been made and receipt provided.

Renew by Mail 

You can mail in your license renewal along with a check made payable to the Manager of Finance for the total city fees due. Be sure to include your Business File Number (BFN) on your check.

  • Copy of motor vehicle registration. 
  • You will also need to go to Public Works and renew your hangtag.

Licenses must be renewed on or before the expiration date to avoid penalty fees.

 

90 Day Grace Period

There is a 90 day grace period from the expiration date during which licenses can be renewed with a penalty fee.

First 30 days of grace period:  20% penalty fee

Days 31 - 90:  50% penalty fee

After 90 days:  Licensees will be required to apply for a new license

 

  • Department of Excise and Licenses inspectors will attempt to locate and notify business license holders of the approaching expiration date.  However, failure of an inspector to notify a delinquent licensee that its license has expired does not excuse the licensee from any applicable late penalty.
