Special Event Cabaret Permit

Special Event Cabaret permits are required if a liquor licensee desires to have entertainment or dancing, other than adult entertainment, on the premises on a limited or one-time basis, or if a special event liquor permit is going to provide live entertainment or dancing.
 

How to Submit an Application

There are a variety of ways that you can submit your New or Renewal application to the Department of Excise and Licenses. If renewing, please make sure to include your Business File Number (BFN) with the submittal.

1.      In an effort to protect public safety, in-person customer service at Excise and Licenses is being offered by appointment only. Please visit our appointments website to make an appointment. 

2.      All license applications not available online can be submitted via email, EXLSubmit@denvergov.org, during this health crisis. Please visit our email application process page for more information on submitting email applications.

3.      You may also mail in your application with fees to:

You may also pay for your applications online or via phone once you have submitted your application to Excise and Licenses. We will send you an invoice and you may pay virtually. Please visit our online payment process page for more information on how to submit payment for your applications.

Excise and Licenses will not offer fingerprinting services on site. This website offers information on fingerprinting services authorized by Colorado Applicant Background Services.

Steps to Apply for a Special Event Cabaret Permit

Applications must be filed at least four (4) days prior to the day of the event. These applications must be presented to the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses.

Action will be taken on an application within three (3) days of the filing of the application.

The approved permit will be emailed if there is sufficient time. Otherwise, the applicant will need to make an appointment to pick it up at the office of Denver Department of Excise and Licenses.

A special event cabaret permit may be issued for a total of ten (10) days in one calendar year, except for events held on public streets, highways, roadways, and sidewalks, which may be issued for fifteen (15) days in one calendar year.

License Fees:  $50 per day made payable to the Manager of Finance

If the application is approved by the Department of Excise and Licenses, the permit will be emailed if there is sufficient time.  Otherwise, the applicant will be required to make an appointment to pick it up at the office of Denver Department of Excise and Licenses.
